  • Artist’s Statement

    I have been working as a professional sculptor for 30 years and have created over 135 works of sculpture
    including multiple large scale and monumental commissions in stone and bronze. I have focused on private
    commissions and the development of my Narrative Process, A 3-dimensional form of sculptural story-sharing. I
    currently focus on creating Legacy Sculptures, which are contemporary memorials; Stories in Stone that engage
    my clients in a unique, deeply personal process. Projects include national and international private
    commissions, including several large-scale works in Ireland commissioned by the Irish Army and the United
    Nations.

    2005-2014 Director of the Marenakos StoneFest, Issaquah and Seattle, WA. www.stonefest.org.
    program development, marketing, organizing travel, speakers and hospitality.

    2008-2006 Completed and installed six sculptures for the Bardessono Hotel and Spa, Yountville, CA. under

    the direction of owner-developer Phil Sherburne.
    Fabricated and installed replica of an authentic fireplace for 16 th c. Italian Room for the Seattle
    Art Museum (SAM remodel, 2007)

    2005 Sculpture Commission of monumental 9.5' bronze of “The Quarrier”

    Champlain Stone Ltd. Warrensburg, NY Co-founded 1 st annual StoneFest, Marenakos Seattle
    Stonearium.

    2004 Collaborated with Marenakos Rock Center planning and building the Seattle Stonearium, a
    design center and gallery of natural stone and sculpture. This included conceptualization and
    installation of all displays in natural stone, marketing, merchandising and promotion of events.
    2003 Relocated from California to Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound, WA. Completed private
    commissions in stone and taught extensively at trade-related symposiums throughout the US.
    2002 Merged Pronto Tools and Trow and Holden Company of Barre, Vermont, manufacturers of
    carving and masonry tools. Continued as a field representative for Trow & Holden assisting
    stone carvers and masons at instructional venues, symposiums and conventions, entailing vendor
    and retail distributor support and training, display assistance and related sales events.
    2002-1998 Established and operated Pronto Tools for Sculpture, in Ventura, CA. supplying tools and
    supplies to the sculpture and masonry fields. while supporting events including the NWSSA
    (Northwest Stone Sculptors Association), MARBLE/marble Colorado, SW Stoneworks, The
    Stone Foundation, and the California Sculptors Symposium.

    Processional crucifix for Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, West Hills, CA.
    1997 Ojai Valley Museum, Ojai, CA. Completion of 14’ Belgian Limestone Condor for
    colleague, Carlyle Montgomery who was terminally ill. Oversaw and assisted with meeting
    building codes, structural installation, and final carving of Montgomery’s sculpture. Assisted in
    creating community and school involvement on the project to interface with the museum and
    environmental groups.

    1996 Commission of monumental central crucifix for Padre Serra Catholic Church, Camarillo, CA.
    Installation of contemporary alabaster crucifix for Padre Serra Catholic Church, Camarillo, CA.
    1993-2003 Manager of Art City Studios, Stone Supply and Gallery, Ventura, CA. Office management,
    marketing, sales, and advertisement. Staged rotating art shows and oversaw gallery press
    releases, community involvement and artist relations. Managed import and export of stone
    inventory, both international and domestic stone namely from Italy, Belgium, Canada and
    throughout the US.
