Barbara Durbin Wean
Artist’s Statement
When I saw the origins of life in patterns of my garden; the sensual organs, colors and fragrances that beckoned to be fertilized, I had to paint and share what I saw. I found that colors in our conventional and commercial world were often stale and uninspired. In the garden, colors were often mixed and side by side in a riot of blooms. No color was excluded. That discovery gave me a sense of freedom in the choices of the plants and color combinations I use in my pastel paintings.
Each painting offers a glimpse into a sacred place that is rich, often chaotic, asking us to find a new understanding of our world.
My goal is to learn and share something important with every painting.Biography
About the beautiful wood frames by Dean Hallauer:
Dean and Barbara met two years ago. Both of them had an interest in art, Barbara as a painter and Dean as a framer. Dean has constructed quality hardwood frames for Barbara's Forest scenes from Peruvian Walnut. Dean's interest goes beyond the frame but also in helping to decide how the frame enhances the painting. Barbara and Dean collaborate throughout the painting process to select the fine hardwood that will ultimately show the painting to its best advantage.
