  • Artist’s Statement

My name is Daniel Ramras, I reside in Seattle, Washington.
I began studying chemistry at Arizona State University in the 1970’s. However after enrolling in
a wood and metal sculpture class--I shifted my passion. At that time, I completed numerous
metal and wood sculptures and began collecting choice wood logs in the hopes of continuing my
    artistic journey someday.
The wood logs I had been collecting, were piling up on the side of my house for years and have
just recently begun to take the form of sculptures I have been dreaming about.
Since mid 2020 I have re-started my artistic endeavors and have completed 12 new wood
sculptures that have taken their long-awaited form.
I believe in Michelangelo’s famous quote, but in my case, substitute the word wood for stone.
“Every block of stone has a statue inside it, and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it”
