Doug Parry
Biography
Doug Parry received his BFA in Printmaking from the University of Washington in 1988. Between 1988 and 1997, he enjoyed success as a young artist in Seattle exhibiting with: The University of Washington; The Bellevue Art Museum; The Seattle Art Museum; The Center of Contemporary Art; Linda Farris Gallery; and Linda Cannon Gallery. In 1994, he exhibited for the first time in New York City at The Gallery at Flamingo East.
In 1997, Parry moved to Brooklyn, New York where, in 2000, he received his MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute. Since then he has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally including 3 exhibits at Art/Basel in Miami Beach, FLA. The Lodge Gallery in New York exhibited his work at the 100 Year Anniversary of the New York Armory Show at it’s original location in Manhattan. He has been awarded artist grants from: Pratt Institute (NY); The Joan Mitchell Foundation (NY); and Artists’ Trust of Seattle.
Parry is also an Associate Professor of Fine Arts and has taught at Hofstra University (Hempstead, L.I., NY), The College of Saint Elizabeth (Morristown, NJ), and at Pratt Institute (Brooklyn and New York, NY). He currently teaches at DigiPen Institute of Technology (Redmond, WA).
His private and public collections include placements in homes and businesses world wide. He is also a sought-after portrait artist commissioned by noteworthy businesspersons, doctors, writers, actors and musicians internationally. His work has been seen on television, in film, on album covers, t-shirts, murals and posters since 1983. His work is represented by Republic Worldwide and Lorimoto Gallery (both in New York). He currently resides in Auburn, Washington.
