In this work I wanted proportion and scale to be the major compositional considerations. I frequently use the toys as figures setting up scenes that might happen in real “human” terms. This personification of the object allows me the freedom to create the worlds of my choosing. I still play with toys, just not the same way as I did as a child. Now, as an Artist, I am using my subjects as actors in a play. As Magritte said, “this is not an apple” nor are these stage set drawings any more or less real than any another 2-dimensional work of art. They are suggestive. I like to leave much of the reading of my art to the viewer. If the principles of art are applied here then let degrees of proportion and scale be interpreted by the viewer.
