The Matilda Winehill Block building was completed in 1890 by Bucheler and Hummel,
and served as a hotel, until the Bread of Life Mission took over the property in 1945.
Located in Pioneer Square, “a neighborhood historically associated with single men,
bars, and chronic issues of alcoholism and homelessness”, it has served as a shelter,
“…offering beds, food, clothing, and a safe environment for the homeless, while also
providing spiritual and life transformation opportunities…..” So…..there’s a catch.
