Every second Tuesday of the month Catalyst will host our indoor Art Walk where you will be able to meet and visit with exhibiting artists. This month Ali Alassadi, Steve Jensen, Gina Holt, Louise McDowell, Steffon Moody, and Steven Edwards will be in the gallery visiting with guests. If you have not had the chance to meet these artists or see their newest works in the gallery, be sure to stop in.
Ali Alassadi
Ali Alassadi is a multidisciplinary artist from Iraq who now lives in the US. He combines modern elements with his cultural heritage. Ali’s passion for art started at age five when he started using watercolors. After moving to Seattle in 2017, he rediscovered his love for art. In 2020, he sold his first painting, and has continued to explore his artistic expression bringing new work into the gallery on a regular basis.. His newest work can be found on exhibit in the main gallery.
Steve Jensen
From a family of Scandinavian fishermen and boat builders, Steve has been creating artworks for over 40 years. Influenced by life experiences, informed from his family heritage, he has created a body of work in various mediums that expands our concepts of both mythology and grief. He has been featured on Channel 9, PBS, and Amazon Prime. Check out his work in the lower gallery near the Tonsorium bar.
Gina Holt
Gina, originally from New York, now lives in Bothell. She sells her clay pieces in fine art galleries, having started with floral-themed mirrors and architectural-style clocks. Her collectors appreciate her delightful and optimistic work, often pre-purchasing before her shows’ openings. Her art is known and appreciated across the US. You will find Gina’s work inside Provisions, The Lodge at St. Edward Park’s gift store.
Louise McDowell
Louise has resided in Seattle for the last 50+ years. She is originally from New York City where she was influenced by the cultural diversity of the city. Louise is a figurative sculptor with work in various Washington State Parks, including Mountlake Terrace, Kirkland, Mercer Island and more. Louise’s sculpture is on exhibit in the lower gallery.
Steven Dale Edwards
“My paintings often start with an idea, spontaneously drawn with chalk on an old painting I no longer love. The aging process on objects enhances the original work. When I think a painting is almost finished, I bring it into a special viewing area in our home to study it. Sally, my wife, has a great perspective. We discuss the new work, and if she says it’s done, I mostly listen. I try new directions, unafraid to paint over an old painting. There is a balance between order and chaos that is difficult to recognize.”
Steffon Moody
Steffon Moody is a visual artist and art professor at DigiPen School of Technology in Redmond, where he teaches drawing and digital environment painting. He grew up painting scenery for the theater, learning the craft from his father, Robert Moody. He also currently works in oils, painting landscape and the figure, as well as drawing editorial cartoons for local publications. He lives on Vashon Island. His work is on exhibit in the lower gallery just outside the Tonsorium Bar and Remington Ballroom.
