Built in 2008 and designed by Ming Zhang and Paul Wu, the Chinatown Gate marks the
western entrance of the International District at 5 th Ave and South King street. It was
created to symbolize the unity and history of the local Chinese community. I chose this
as a subject because I liked the contrast between the gate and the western architectural
style of the King Street Station clock tower in the distance. Completed in 1906, it was
the tallest building in Seattle back then.
